DONALD Trump tried to save face on Twitter yesterday after his humiliating health care bill collapse.
The President tweeted: “ObamaCare will explode and we will all get together and piece together a great healthcare plan for THE PEOPLE. Do not worry!”
Trump was forced to stop his healthcare bill’s progress in Congress after a rebellion by Republican members on Friday.
Deleting t he 2010 Affordable Care Act – known as Obamacare – was one of Trump’s key election campaign promises.
Desperate lobbying by the White House and Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan, Trump was unable to round up the 216 votes needed for success.
The President said after the U-turn: “We learned a lot about loyalty. We were just probably anywhere from 10 to 15 votes short.”
Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said the bill failed “because of two traits that have plagued the Trump presidency since he took office: incompetence and broken promises”.
