Crisps and sarnie peril
WOMEN would rather have a drink with Sir David Attenborough than the Queen, a Nicholson’s Pubs poll revealed. EATING a BLT sarnie with crisps would smash your recommended daily salt intake, a report has warned.
Of 10 takeaway lunch faves tested by Trading Standards, eight had worryingly high salt levels.
The BLT- crisp combo was the worst offender with 7g, above the safe 6g daily limit – about a teaspoon.
It was followed by jacket potato with mince and onions and a sausage and egg sandwich.
Staffordshire Trading Standards spokesman Gill Heath said: “People may be unaware that these lunchtime foods contain high quantities of salt.”
