Pin-up? Now I’m Mr Housework Corrie’s hunky Adam Rickitt’s back on T V but he has changed

- By Amanda Killelea

ONE of Britain’s hottest hunks is returning to a TV soap after 13 years away.

Countless Corrie fans lusted after heart-throb Adam Rickitt when he played Nick Tilsley.

But before they get too excited about his new role – in Hollyoaks – it’s worth noting he is changed man.

The one-time partying model who hit Manchester clubs with footballers David Beckham and Ryan Giggs is now a happily married man more likely to stay at home doing the ironing.

Adam, 38, freely admits he took full advantage of his fame and being the target of girls who wanted to bag themselves a celebrity. At the height of his Corrie days, one obsessed woman even ran over him in a car just to get his autograph.

Blood

He said: “This woman jumped out screaming hysterically saying ‘I am so sorry but I just wanted to get your autograph.’

“I was on the floor with blood pouring out of my head, but she got my autograph and then drove off.”

But now he is a different man after falling for Katy, 37, and marrying her in 2014.

He said: “I used to be like a kid in a sweet shop. I remember going into clubs with Ryan Giggs and David Beckham and we were sort of the most famous people in the country because 18 million people were watching me on Corrie four times a week.”

He said: “It was a bit weird – but it was great. Yet after a while you begin to realise that you aren’t getting anything meaningful out of that lifestyle and you get a bit bored.”

Adam had long-term girlfriends but had resigned himself to never finding “the one” until, in 2 0 1 0 , Good Morning Britain reporter Katy interviewed him about his work for the RSPCA.

He said: “The day I met Katy I rang my mum and told her I had met the woman I am going to marry. It was l love at first sight.” After the pa pair spent six hours together, Adam knew he had found his soulm soulmate. H He said: “She is my best frien friend, my lover and, if everythin thing stopped tomorrow and I co couldn’t act again... I would st still have her. Adam joined Corrie, a aged 19, in 1997 and finally le left in 2004. In that time he was on the cover of every teen magazine and reached numbern five with his hit I BreatheB Again in 1999. About 10 years ago he even flirted with the idea of becoming a Tory MP but in July 2007 he decided to continue his acting career in New Zealand, rather than seek selection as a candidate.

Bubble

Now he has landed the role of Nancy Osborne’s MSsuffering ex Kyle in Channel 4’s Hollyoaks.

But when he finishes filming he will not be out clubbing – he will head home for “bubble time” with Katy – their name for precious hours together.

He said: “We have what we call bubble time at the weekends where, from 3pm on a Friday until Sunday morning, we spend all our time together.

“I do look after her because she is a bit rubbish – I do all the cooking, cleaning, ironing and shopping.” And he has admitted he would love to have kids.

He said: “I would like kids which surprises me as when I was younger I vehemently didn’t want kids, and now I do.

“If any other girl I had ever been out with before had told me they were pregnant it would have been the end of my life. Now I’d love to have kids.”
