Parky beat death fear
CHAT s how l egend Michael Parkinson has told how his cancer diagnosis left him terrified.
The TV veteran, 82, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer four years ago, said: “Anybody who says they’re not scared is lying.
“It’s that dreaded word. It’s a death sentence, or you imagine it to be.
“I’d never considered, or had to consider, the possibility I might die. I was sublime. I was superman.”
He t old Weekend magazine: “I’m glad it was something I could get rid of, touch wood.”
But he added: “I’m not afraid of dying. But I’d like to die at a cricket match.”
He will tell anecdotes about his career in his “An Evening with Michael Parkinson” show, kicking off in London next month.
