Arsonist’s flat error
A CONVICTED rapist who planned to burn down the home of a witness targeted the wrong address.
Richard Pentreath was found guilty of rape and indecent assault but vanished during the Woolwich crown court trial.
The 64-year-old drove to North Wales to get revenge and poured an accelerant through a letterbox.
Anna Price, prosecuting, said when confronted last October, Pentreath exclaimed: “I’ve got the wrong address.” He admitted arson but claimed he was just trying to cause a fright. He added: “But it was the wrong lady – don’t rely on Google maps.”
At Mold crown court, Pentreath, of Bishop’s Cleeve, Cheltenham, was remanded in custody pending psychiatric reports.
