RUGBY UNION
EDDIE JONES has called for a union to help rugby coaches when they are sacked.
The boss was a guest at football’s League Managers’ Association dinner last week and wants a similar set-up in rugby.
The England coach knows what it feels like to be binned – he was sacked by the Wallabies in 2005 and fears rugby is developing soccer’s hire-and-fire mentality.
Leicester have got rid of Richard Cockerill and Aaron Mauger this season while Bristol dumped Andy Robinson. Jones said: “When you get fired as a coach there is public humiliation, because you see in the paper what’s written about you, and you’ve got to cope with that.
“Sometimes there’s a difficult situation with your employees.
”So, if you’ve got an organisation that supports you in that area, that’s fantastic.
“It’s moving towards that hire and fire situation – so if we lose against the Barbarians, I could be looking for a new job!”
