Stars on track to aid blaze victims

-

STARS united yesterday to record a cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s Bridge over Troubled Water to raise money for Grenfell Tower victims.

Rita Ora, Paloma Faith, Craig David, James Blunt, Leona Lewis, Gregory Porter, Carl Barat of The Libertines and Britain’s Got Talent winner Tokio Myers answered a plea from Simon Cowell.

They recorded at Sarm Music Village in Notting Hall, a five minute walk from the inferno scene in West London. The Who, Emeli Sandé, Louisa Johnson and London rappers Skepta and Stormzy, among others, will put down vocals for the track.

One Direction’s Liam Payne and James Arthur are doing their recordings remotely because they could not make it to the studio in time.

Tulisa is expected at the studio tomorrow and it is hoped the single will be released by Wednesday.

After recording her vocals, Paloma Faith, 35, said: “When it happened I was there at 10am. Everyone was so stunned.

“I am really disappointed by the Government’s response. I don’t think £5million will touch the sides. It’s not the compensation those people deserve.”
