Teen vows not to miss his GCSEs

-

A SCHOOLBOY survivor has told how he is determined to carry on with his GCSE exams.

Marlon Mangoba, 16, was shaken awake by his dad, Marlon senior, when the smoke alarm went off in their 14th-floor flat.

“The adrenalin kicked in pretty quick,” he said. “We had to crouch down and keep our heads under this wall of smoke to get out.”

They both escaped unharmed, as did his mother Nida.

Marlon said he was determined to keep his education on track. “I did the physics exam on Friday,” he said. He has another three to take next week.

The brave teenager added: “If we didn’t have a smoke alarm, we wouldn’t be here.”
