May clings on for 2 yrs

- By Nigel Nelson

THERESA May is cancelling next year’s Queen’s Speech so she can cling to power for two years.

The move means the Tories can dodge Commons votes, which could topple the PM, until after Brexit.

Mrs May is already stripping Wednesday’s Queen’s Speech of Bills she put forward in her manifesto.

So the elderly will not now lose their homes if they need care, nor their triple lock on pensions, nor winter fuel allowances.

It means Mrs May can focus on Brexit talks, which begin tomorrow, with less risk of being ousted.

Brexit Secretary David Davis will open the talks after yesterday rebuffing French leader Emmanuel Macron, who has said the door is still open for Britain to remain in the EU.
