Cosby free in sex trial
BILL Cosby has walked free from court after jurors were deadlocked in his sex assault case.
They could not reach a unanimous verdict yesterday after 52 hours of deliberations over six days in Norristown, Pennsylvania. Prosecutors vowed to seek a retrial.
The star, 79, denies drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand at his Philadelphia mansion in 2004, claiming sex was consensual.
Defence lawyers had pleaded for the case to be thrown out after the jury repeatedly asked to hear evidence again.
Dozens of women have accused Cosby of historical assaults. But rules mean he can be tried only for Ms Constand’s allegations.
Earlier, the star of sitcom The Cosby Show in the 1980s and 90s thanked supporters.
