£14M BUYS A LOTTO HOME Thrifty Bev buys £600k house but still shops at Morrisons

- By Phil Cardy

NOT so long ago Bev Doran and her four kids were living in a council house and struggling to get by on £320-a-week benefits.

But thanks to a £14.5million lottery win, the family now have a five-bed £600,000 home – and a £50,000 Range Rover.

Not that 37-year-old Bev – pictured for the first time since scooping the EuroMillions jackpot in February – is letting the windfall change her too much.

She hasn’t moved far from her old £70,000 house, still does her shopping at the local Morrisons, and kept her children at the same school so they could stay with their friends.

Wearing a black tracksuit and sipping a can of Diet Coke, Bev was spotted carrying groceries to her new property in Shipley, West Yorks. After winning the jackpot she told how her top priority was a bigger home for the children, aged 17, 10, nine and five. Two have autism.

She added: “We live in a three-bed house and there are five of us. It’s been crammed for them. It will be good to have their own space and a nice garden in a nice area. I’ve spent many a night with depression wondering what would happen to my children, especially when they’re older. Now I don’t have that worry.

“Now I can be debt free. Before all my money went on the children and I went around in rags. The main thing is that my children are going to be fine.”

A source said: “Winning the lottery couldn’t have happened to a nicer person. She always put her kids first and that hasn’t changed.

“She’s got the new place, but it’s not too far away, so the children have stayed in touch with their friends.

“That’s what she said would happen when she won and she’s stuck t to her word. She had a great sense of humourhumo but was struggling with the kids. If anyone deserved a break, it wasw Bev.” Generous Bev, w who gave up work as a recep receptionist two years ago to lookloo after her

children, has alsoa treated family members. When she won her millions she rang mum Adhel and told her to quit her supermarket job.

Bev split from her partner, and father of the three youngest children, Sean Priestley, seven months before her win.

At the time of her win he warned against gold-diggers contacting him. He said: “My ex has assured me I will never see a penny so please don’t ask me to have a word, see if I can borrow owt or invest in anything… it’s nothing to do with me and I probably always will be skint.”

But he did wish her well, adding: “I’m chuffed to bits for her. The kids are financially secure for the future.”

The estate agent’s blurb for Bev’s new home calls it “unique and prestigious”.

But with her new-found fortune she could have had the pick of several lush pads in the region that are up for grabs.

There’s £2.8million Leyland House, near Garforth, with its own land, £3.4million Old Hall, built in the 17th century, near Wetherby, and 10-bedroom Colton Lodge, near Tadcaster, which is going for £3.5million.
