Forest man laid to rest

-

A TEACHER murdered in the Troubles and secretly buried 32 years ago has finally been laid to rest.

Seamus Ruddy, 32, went missing in 1985 after moving to France. His remains were found last month in a forest in Normandy.

It is believed Mr Ruddy, an ex-member of the Irish Republican Socialist Party, was killed by members of republican paramilitary group the INLA in a row over an arms dump.

His body was found by an official group set up during the peace process to trace the “disappeared”.

Bishop John McAreavey who led the funeral in Newry, Co Down, said: “Seamus’s family and friends kept a long vigil.”
