Pay bid by BBC stars
TOP women presenters have written to BBC boss Tony Hall, urging him to “act now” over the gender pay gap scandal.
Clare Balding, Victoria Derbyshire, Sue Barker and Angela Rippon are among more than 40 women who signed the protest letter.
Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans tops the pay list on more than £2million, while the highest paid woman is Strictly’s Claudia Winkleman on between £450,000 and £499,999.
In the letter, the stars say they will meet Mr Hall “so that future generations of women do not face this kind of discrimination”.
They add: “This is an age of equality and we all want to go on the record to call upon you to act now.”
The BBC said it was committed to closing the pay gap by 2020, but warned: “This is complex. It can’t be done overnight.”
