Blaze fear folk return

-

OVER 1,000 people evacuated from five blocks after the Grenfell Tower disaster were back home last night.

They agreed to return to the Chalcots Estate in Camden, north London, after the local council said safety work had been approved by the London Fire Brigade.

But last night at least 100 residents were refusing to return, saying they did not trust the council.

Shirley Phillips said: “They reckon it’s going to take another six weeks to get fire doors and possibly another nine months before the cladding’s removed, so how is that safe?”

At least 80 people died in Grenfell Tower, northwest London, when external cladding caught fire.
