Pair die in Costa flat
AN elderly British couple died of natural causes within hours of each other at their home in Spain.
The badly decomposed bodies of Michael Barton, 71, and his wife Valetta, 80, were discovered in separate rooms at their Costa del Sol flat on Thursday.
A son in the UK had raised the alarm when he was unable to contact them.
A police source said: “Pathologists came to the conclusion that both died from natural causes.
“We understand he died first and his wife shortly afterwards of a stroke.”
The couple, thought to have been dead for up to 15 days, had lived in the seaside village of San Luis de Sabinillas near Malaga for ten years.
A spokesman for the Foreign Office said: “We are supporting the family of two British people who have died in Malaga.”
