They have not just bought a defender, they have bought a John Terry figure, someone players will look up to and say: “I want to follow this guy into battle.”

And if you are on Milan’s radar and they are offering proper wages, why wouldn’t you want to go and play with Bonucci behind you?

He is going to keep clean sheets, marshal a defence and lead the club.
