MAN CITY

- From David McDonnell in San Jose

ANDER HERRERA is convinced Manchester United cannot afford to lose David De Gea to Real Madrid this summer.

The Spanish giants are poised to test United’s resolve to keep De Gea with a £60million bid for their long-term target, whose move to the Bernabeu collapsed two years ago on transfer deadline day.

But ahead of their Californian clash with Real today at Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, De Gea’s United and Spain teammate Herrera underlined the importance of keeping the 26-year-old he believes is currently the best goalkeeper in the world.

Herrera said: “I’m repeating myself every day, but David is a goalkeeper who can give you points – and that’s very important.

“I want to keep him here, to play with him, because he’s a fantastic keeper and also my friend.
