1st lesson kills driver

A WOMAN died in a crash on her first driving lesson.

The learner was being taught by her husband and ploughed into a concrete block, destroying the car.

The crash near Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, came days after King Salman ended a 60- year ban on women drivers. Many have been practising illegally before permits are issued next year.

But some Saudi clerics say women are a risk at the wheel as they have “half an intellect” and when they go shopping “it’s halved again”.
