Nelly held over rape’
AMERICAN rapper Nelly has been arrested over allegations that he raped a woman on his tour bus.
The 42-year-old was on tour with country band Florida Georgia Line when he was held in Washington yesterday morning.
His l awyer, Scott Rosenblum, said “Nelly is the victim of a completely fabricated allegation.
“Our initial investigation clearly establishes this allegation is devoid of credibility and is motivated by greed and vindictiveness.
“I am confident, once this scurrilous accusation is thoroughly investigated, there will be no charges.”
Nelly, born Cornell Iral Haynes Jr, had hits with Hot in Herre and Dilemma.
He found fame with the release of album Country Grammar in 2000.
