Factor trolls made my life hell

Mum insulted over Descendance split I’ll take every bit of abuse to see Hayley go further

X FACTOR reject Debye Gaskin has been reduced to tears by abuse since Simon Cowell forced her to quit and let her daughter stay on.

Debye, 40, and her 21- year- old girl Hayley Norton, failed to impress as duo Descendance so the judges told her to let her daughter continue without her.

Hayley was seen pleading with mum to let her go solo on the show and, after an emotional few minutes, Debye agreed.

But the scene sparked a flood of abuse from viewers branding her selfish and shameful. One said she “needed a slap”.

Mum-of-three Debye says she is devastated and has not stopped crying since.

“Last Sunday I woke up to such hurtful and awful abuse,” she said. “I thought people would say nice things.

Selfish

“Hayley assured me I’d be the most loved mum in Britain. Instead it was things like ‘you are a selfish mum’, ‘you are a horrible cow, ‘ ‘you should be ashamed of yourself making your daughter beg’. “I had a proper breakdown. It killed me. I can’t stop crying. There are loads of posts and so many borderline threats. They are saying things like ‘she needs a slap’.” After performing Dead or Alive’s You Spin Me Round, Debye said she went numb when the judges told her they would either have to return to Belfast together – or split so Hayley could go solo. But the abuse has not hampered her support for Hayley. “I’ll take every bit of it so HayleyH can get on. It’s hard, but I I’d give up my life for her. ““Hayley is going to blow e everyone away.” After supporting Hayley this series, Debye may return next year on her own. She said: “We’ll always sings together. But you have tot be realistic that Hayley is theth marketable one. “I’ll never stop singing. And I might go back to prove a point and seese what happens.”
