Car scam boss fined
A GARAGE boss cheated a council with a faked invoice about supposed damage to a relative’s car.
Kevin Pryor, 49, billed the council for £1,335 for fixing a car “damaged by a roadside drain”.
Pryor had insisted the invoice, submitted for his relative, was correct.
But Pryor, of Aylesbury, Bucks, admitted two fraud charges and was ordered by Stevenage magistrates to pay £2,539 fines and costs.
Hertfordshire council’s David Williams said: “People often t hink insurance is a victimless crime but it generates enormous costs that are borne by the public.”
There is no suggestion any of Pryor’s relatives were involved in the scam.
