‘Cut drink drive limit’

SIX out of 10 motorists want the drink-drive limit in England and Wales slashed to improve road safety, says the RAC.

Its poll of 1,727 drivers found nearly 38 per cent wanted the limit cut from 80mg to 50mg per 100ml of blood, while 21 per cent went for a 20mg limit.

The call comes on the 50th anniversary of Britain’s drink-drive laws.

An RAC spokesman s aid: “I t ’ s t i me t he Government fell in line with a large swathe of other countries who are enforcing a 50mg limit.”
