Scam of the week

-

Here’s some of the readers’ stories. Abigail from York bought a Ford Focus from a local used car dealer but it broke down within three weeks of being driven off the forecourt. The AA said there was a significant issue with the car’s electrics. She took it to the dealer but he pointed to a clause in the terms and conditions stating they were not liable for any issues found in the vehicle after the first 14 days. John from Cambridge bought three desks from a used office furniture trader. Six months later the police told him they were part of a consignment of stolen goods. Officer confiscated them. John contacted the trader, who had not known they were stolen, for a refund. But the trader said he was not liable. In both of these cases the traders were liable under the Consumer RightsAct.
