Mum’s fury over emojis

- By Amy Sharpe

A FURIOUS mum has removed her son from school after staff displayed his marks alongside emojis.

Pupils’ exam progress was pasted on the wall with a “happy” or “sad” face next to each, depending on how they had scored.

Teachers also put students’ pictures on either a red or green display board to show how much they needed to improve.

The mum said the move names and shames kids who aren’t performing well.

She said: “[They] think it’s OK to put children’s photos up on a display board rating them from red to green... in the school corridor for the whole school to see along with sad and happy emojis.”

Headteacher at St John Fisher School, in Chatham, Kent, Dympna Lennon said: “Pupils had an opportunity to speak with teachers about any concerns.”
