Cruelty fix at abattoirs
ALL slaughterhouses in England will have CCTV fitted by next Easter in a bid to stamp out cruelty.
Food Standards Agency vets will be given full access to the film by Environment Secretary Michael Gove.
Licences can be revoked for misconduct. The worst cases will go to the police.
Research by Animal Aid found law-breaking in ten of 11 random abattoirs from 2009- 16. Atrocities included animals being hit and workers stubbing out cigarettes in pigs’ faces.
