Loving the retirement

THE key to happy marriage is retirement, says a study.

More than two-thirds of pensioner couples say they are happier now than ever.

A further 65 per cent said their relationship was stronger because they had more time for each other.

But the poll of 1,500 by builder McCarthy & Stone found 40 per cent said holidays made them happy.

A spokesman said: “Leaving behind work and family stresses and strains can give older couples a whole new lease of life.”
