SLUTSKY’S SWEATING
LEONID SLUTSKY wants his Hull flops to save him from the sack – by going from artists to artisans.
The Tigers were pretty in demolishing Burton, Bolton and Birmingham to rack up early wins – although alarm bells rang when they got done 5-0 at Derby.
And they have been pretty awful in a woeful run which has brought only two victories from their last nine league games and seen them crash to 20th in the table, just four points above the drop zone.
That has left boss Slutsky, 46, fighting for his job after a mere five months in charge on Humberside. The pressure is on the former Russia and CSKA Moscow chief to come up with a way to pull City out of their slump before co-owner Ehab Allam runs out of patience.
Slutsky admitted: ”I will have to include some special exercises on the training field to help with our character – which is not right. We must be a lot tougher and maybe that will be more important than the quality of our football.
“We are in a situation which, for me, is very difficult to understand. We have only worked together for a few months and I don’t have a lot of information about how the players react to a stressful time.
“Now we have a diagnosis but we don’t have the medicine. We will have to find it.”
