Footie star’s crash arrest

THIS was the scene of destruction yesterday as footballer Darron Gibson was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

Our exclusive pictures show the Sunderland midfielder being put into a police car shortly after his black Mercedes was involved in road smashes.

Witnesses claimed the ex- Manchester United and Everton star’s car was i n a crash t hat wrecked f our parked vehicles in Sunderland. It happened hours before bottom-of-the-Championship Sunderland were beaten 2- 0 by Preston.

Gibson, 30, a married fatherof-two, is currently out of action because of a groin injury.

Northumbria police said: “A 30 30- year- year old man has been b arrested on suspicio suspicion of driving whilst over the legal alcohol limit.”
