Huge rise in bed-blocks
SOCIAL care cuts have seen bed-blocking rocket.
Last year, 6,181 patients approved for discharge were stuck in hospital waiting to be transferred – up on 3,753 in 2010.
The f i gures were revealed by the response to a parliamentary question.
They are on track to reach high levels this year.
Barbara Keeley MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Social Care, said: “Delayed transfers of care have reached record highs under this government.
“The Tories need to invest £8billion across the Parliament to ease the social care crisis.”
