Huge rise in bed-blocks

-

SOCIAL care cuts have seen bed-blocking rocket.

Last year, 6,181 patients approved for discharge were stuck in hospital waiting to be transferred – up on 3,753 in 2010.

The f i gures were revealed by the response to a parliamentary question.

They are on track to reach high levels this year.

Barbara Keeley MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Social Care, said: “Delayed transfers of care have reached record highs under this government.

“The Tories need to invest £8billion across the Parliament to ease the social care crisis.”
