The victim suffered lifechanging wounds in Friday night’s horror at Manchester’s Barca bar, once owned by Simply Red’s Mick Hucknall.

The man in his 30s was attacked with the machete, pulled from a rucksack, after asking another drinker who had shouted abuse at a group to calm down.

Police described the attack as “chilling”.
