Fall bridge had crack

A CRACK in the Miami bridge that collapsed on a road killing at least six people was deemed safe just three hours before.

Designers and builders met on Thursday but dismissed the problem.

Florida International University, which wanted the bridge for a walkway, said an engineer told them the “crack did not compromise structural integrity”.

The death toll is expected to rise when four buried vehicles are uncovered by rescue teams.
