GLUSHKOV GIRL’S FEARS FOR LIFE’

-

MURDERED Russian exile Nikolai Glushkov’s daughter was last night said to be “traumatised and terrified for her life” amid fears that she could be targeted next.

Natalya was placed in police protection after discovering her father’s body at his home in New Malden, South West London, last Monday.

A murder probe started four days later after a postmortem found he was murdered, then strung up to make it appear he had hanged himself. A source said: “Natalya can’t believe this has happened. It’s horrendous.” Police say there is no evidence of any link to the attempted murders of Russian double agent Sergei Skripal and daughter Yulia in Salisbury earlier this month. But the revelation that Mr Glushkov was murdered bolsters theories that a squad of Russian agents could be operating in the UK. It is claimed the Kremlin had branded Mr Glushkov “public enemy number one” after he allegedly stole £90million from the state. The 68-year-old was accused of embezzlement while he was finance director at the Russian state airline Aeroflot during the 1990s

His death also raises fears that his close friend Boris Berezovsky, the oligarch found dead in his Berkshire home in 2013, and other critics of Russian president Vladimir Putin have been targeted.

Glushkov also knew Alexander Litvinenko, who was killed in 2006 by two Kremlin assassins who put radioactive polonium in his drink at a London restaurant.
