Pregnant sister survives attack... Man, 35, in murder quiz Mum and daughter shot dead

A MOTHER and her daughter have been shot dead at their home.

Heather Whitbread, 53, and Michelle Savage, 32, were gunned down but Heather’s pregnant daughter Raven Whitbread, 23, and another woman were unharmed.

A 35- year- old man, arrested after a two- hour hunt, was l ast night still being quizzed on suspicion of murder.

A neighbour, Lucy Peoples, 33, said: “The street was put on lockdown.

“Armed police were everywhere. There were helicopter­s in the sky. We were told to get in and lock all doors and windows. Our lives were in danger... I’ve got three small children and was really panicking. It was incredibly scary.”

She added she saw two terrified women being led out of the house by armed officers.

The women were taken to hospital for shock.

Shortly before the killings at 7.45pm on Friday in St Leonards, East Sussex, Raven put a photo on Facebook s howing her bump.

The caption said: “It’s a girl.”

Heather also had two sons living in Wales.

Inspector Mark Rosser, of Sussex police, said: “It was one of those nights where you knew something bad was happening, but it got even worse as it unravelled.”

Officers say a firearm has been recovered. A blue Ford car in a car park close to the home was towed away last night.
