TERRY: ONE MORE YEAR

- EXCLUSIVE by Neil Moxley

JOHN TERRY wants to play on next season.

The former England skipper has decided that there is still one more campaign in his legs – and Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce is aware of his plans.

The 37-year-old has played a key role for Villa, adding a winning mentality to a dressing room that had seriously lost its way.

Although automatic promotion appears to be a long shot, the indications are that Terry would be happy to stay at Villa Park – and potentially play against his old club Chelsea if Villa do manage to go up.

But he will remain a free agent and the former European champions will have to come up with a suitable package. If Bruce offers Terry a swansong and Villa remain in the Championship, the ex-Stamford Bridge legend would have to take a pay cut.

But he will be due a hefty bonus if the club returns to the big time.

A final crack in the Premier League would pit Terry against his former club for the first time in his career.

That would mirror the episode when fellow Chelsea favourite Frank Lampard turned out against the Blues for Manchester City.

STEVE BRUCE is planning to bolster Villa’s goalkeeping department after sending one of his top spies to watch Feyenoord’s ex-Liverpool No.1 Brad Jones.
