Real blow for Klopp in Ali hunt

- By Steve Bates

LIVERPOOL’S hopes of landing £70million-rated Roma keeper Alisson have hit a snag – with Real Madrid now favourites to sign the Brazilian.

Jurgen Klopp was determined to bring the 25-year-old to Anfield this summer – even if it meant smashing the world transfer record for a keeper.

But Alisson, who helped steer Roma into the Champions League quarterfinals, has revealed he’d prefer a move to Real.

The Spanish giants have made no secret that he is their top choice, with Manchester United refusing to sell David De Gea.

“Real Madrid’s interest in me makes me happy, I won’t deny that,” Alisson said. “I’m very happy when a club speaks well of me, it means I’m doing well and that they are following me.

“Imagine when a club like Real Madrid does that… but for now I’m focused on Roma.”

Liverpool could also miss out on back-up choice Bernd Leno, with Napoli reportedly ready with a £23m offer for the German.

Klopp would prefer Alisson but also rates Leno highly and has kept a close watch on the Leverkusen star this season.
