TV talks to bring back Baywatch

- Janine Yaqoob

BE ready! Baywatch could be set for a return to our shores.

The show, which starred Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff, came to an end 19 years ago after 242 episodes.

But now TV network CBS is in talks with some of the original cast for a new series, according to David Chokachi – who played lifeguard

Cody Madison. But while the iconic red swimming costumes are likely to make a return, bosses are not saying if The Hoff, 67, will be back too.

Chokachi, 52, said: “Right before Covid happened they were in talks of rebooting the show.

“They were going to bring back three of the regulars from the original – and I’m one of them, I found out, which is cool.”

The show, with its iconic theme tune featuring the refrain “I’ll be ready”, was set on the sun-kissed beaches of Los Angeles. A later series moved it to Hawaii.

David claims the panned 2017 movie featuring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson initially killed a previous attempt at a reboot.

But he told podcast The Production Meeting: “I think the show could find a real audience again. I’m rooting for it, man.”
