Lockdown’s booze blues

ONE in four Brits drank alcohol at least four times a week during lockdown.

The rate was just 14 per cent before the pandemic, a study by Maynooth University in Ireland found.

Binge drinking also rose from 10 per cent to 17 per cent in April, with people looking “to alleviate distress and worry”.
