I’d start the day by going for a run along Palma Bay, which goes east to Playa de Palma and passes through the fishing village of Portixol, a few miles outside the centre. Palma is a great place to go for a run.

I’d stop at one of the authentic cafes in Palma´s Old Town for an ensaimada – one of the island’s famous pastries – and a strong coffee. The Old Town has everything from bustling shopping streets to gothic churches.

For a cocktail with a view, I’d head to the 49 Steps Bar & Grill at the marina. At weekends, I’d go on a tapas crawl through Sa Gerreria, starting in La Rosa Vermuteria.
