JOSH THANKS HIS HEART

- BY Steve Bates

BURNLEY star Josh Brownhill has revealed he snubbed West Ham to make sure he stayed in the Premier League – and now he’s chasing Europe.

Brownhill arrived from Bristol City in a £9million deal in January’s window.

The Hammers were keen to sign the 24-year-old but Brownhill (left) chose life under Sean Dyche rather than a move to the London

Stadium – and he’s delighted he made that choice.

He said: “My heart was set on Burnley. We were in talks for a couple of weeks and when you get that feeling for a place, it is hard to describe, I knew it was the right place.

“It’s always nice to get interest from other clubs – West Ham is a big club as well but in January, Burnley were a lot safer in the table than West Ham.

“For me, it was about being in the Premier League and Burnley just ticked every box for me.

“So far it’s been really enjoyable. We’ve been in pretty good form every since I joined and to keep that going after lockdown has been great.”

Today’s clash with Sheffield United is a battle with a Europa League place at stake.

Brownhill added: “We’re definitely right in the mix for it.

“If we beat Sheffield United we’re in with a right chance.”
