‘City have to be perfect’

- By Steve Bates

JURGEN KLOPP believes Manchester City are joint favourites for the Champions League – but they’ll have to be perfect to win it.

Liverpool won the trophy last season, beating Tottenham in the final in Madrid.

And, although he believes City possess the attacking weapons to beat anyone, Pep Guardiola’s defence could be a problem.

“I think the two big favourites left in the competition are Bayern and Man City – that would be an interesting game,” said Klopp.

“Bayern played an impressive season in Germany, so these two are the favourites. I don’t know if they can meet in the semi-final or final or whatever.

“When you see the Man City squad, it’s wow, but everybody needs luck and, if you want to win the Champions League, you should have your best line-up ready for the final.

“They have a massive chance, but even in our game – which City deservedly won – we should have scored three goals. Don’t forget that. We should have and we would have normally.

“So we should have scored three goals in that game and they have so much quality, but no team in the world is perfect.

“City is not, Bayern is not, we are not. “But you need to be nearly perfect in precise moments to win the Champions League.”
