Bidwell eyes on top six
JAKE BIDWELL insists Swansea can put a smile back on fans’ faces by completing a super-six sequence to offset the economic blues.
The Swans defender (below) believes the club can surge into the playoffs by using today’s home game with Sheffield Wednesday to launch a repeat of their early-season form in which they won five and drew one of their first half-dozen matches.
That, says Bidwell, would lift the mood – Wales has suffered the highest rise in business collapses in the UK since March. Swans fans can’t even get a drink in a pub garden as lockdown rules differ from England. Bidwell admits: “In Swansea, we are one team representing the city and for some people, us winning a game could be the highlight of their week.
“That’s a responsibility we need to take on our shoulders.”
Wednesday, managed by former Swans boss Garry Monk, are in mid-table and Bidwell said: “If we can replicate the form we had at the start of the season, then I’m pretty sure we would make the top six. We need to go full throttle.”
