Summer Jobs

-

Back in the day, teenagers acquired summer employment far more easily than the long-winded application processes for jobs to fill the summer months today.

Many washed dishes in restaurants, went into the houses of strangers to do their ironing, waitressed in country clubs, sold ice-cream and delivered papers, given much responsibility with little training.

Earnings were spent on coffee-house coffees, bus fares to visit boyfriends, trips to the pictures and fish and chips.
