“Royal” Visit
The Victory Bus is a great attraction. As well as being visited by holidaymakers and regular local customers, it is a favourite stop for organisations such as the classic car enthusiasts club which frequently makes the tea bus an elevenses spot on its Sunday drives.
Walkers also make a point of including a “bus-stop” on their planned walks. But perhaps the most famous visitor was none other than Queen Victoria, who dropped in for high tea one summer’s day.
Twenty-five members of the “Victorian Strollers” Living History Group accompanied her as she posed with children and visitors.
She was overheard to say how much she had enjoyed her visit and that, contrary to rumour, she was indeed “very amused”!
