I’D LIKE TO KNOW

QOn holiday with my husband recently, we spotted some beautiful Shetland ponies, but can you tell us which breed of horse is the smallest?

Mrs B.W., Cardiff.

AAlthough the hardy Shetland pony is small, the Falabella is one of the smallest breeds of horse in the world. It is seldom taller than eight hands (32 inches). Although its tiny stature qualifies the Falabella for pony status, the breed is actually classified as a miniature horse. It takes around three years for the Falabella to reach its full adult size and they make excellent guide animals. They also have a longer lifespan compared with other horse breeds.

QI’m trying to reduce meat in my diet and saw falafels in the supermarket. I was tempted to buy to try, but what are they actually made from?

Miss J.L., Inverness.

AFalafels are usually made from chickpeas or fava beans which have been lightly spiced with garlic, cumin and coriander. They are great served with salad and a dip, as they can be quite dry on their own, or try them stuffed in pitta bread with a tomato salsa.

QI’m currently watching reruns of “Last Of The Summer Wine”. Can you tell me who plays Mrs Avery?

Miss J.S., Manchester.

AThis is Julie T. Wallace. The actress was born in May 1961 and her debut TV role was in the BBC drama “The Life And Loves Of A She-devil” in 1986. She also appeared in the James Bond movie “The Living Daylights”.
