Weeds

When grass is cut too short, the plant can’t photosynthesise or retain moisture and spread into a thick carpet – which leaves gaps for weeds to take full advantage of. Some weeds such as red clover can be raked to the surface prior to mowing so you can still cut at the correct height yet control the spread of weeds at the same time. Weeds are hardy, and clover and dandelions especially thrive in dry spells. So as well as mowing at the right height, keep your lawn well watered.
