Dame Vera was a key part of the Entertainments National Service Association, which brought welcome relief for troops in combat and also to civilians from 1940 onwards. Vera took on a three-month tour of the Far East, singing classic songs like “White Cliffs Of Dover” and “We’ll Meet Again” to boost morale in one of the War’s most difficult locations.
