The Year Of Opera
The Fringe may have increased in size, but the EIF has grown in a different way. Each year the programme has been varied and of the highest quality. Directors have a huge responsibility here to maintain the reputation of the EIF and to add to it. Fergus Linehan took on the role in 2013 and I asked him about this challenge.
“The biggest challenge is the openness of the brief. We cover many different art forms, work of many different scales and are programming from all over the world, and our aim is to continue to deliver more of the same in the future to as large and diverse an audience as possible. For 2017, if you ever wanted to dip your toe into the world of opera, this is the year to do it.”
