Hold Off Pruning

We’ve always pruned our Leylandii conifer hedge in the autumn, to avoid disturbing nesting birds. But I’ve now discovered that autumn pruning is what’s causing the bald patches, so I’m going to hold off till early spring. Leylandii have a bad name because they grow so fast, but if you trim them twice a year, they make a good hedge.
