This week, the price of the “Friend” rises to £1.60, our first increase this year. Unfortunately, rising costs and a decline in demand for advertising space in recent months mean it can be delayed no longer, but I hope you’ll agree the magazine remains great value.

Our new series about “Dogs With Jobs”, which started last month, is proving a big hit with the “Friend” team, and we’ve all fallen in love with pet model Boris, who features on page 40. He looks like he thoroughly enjoys his career in the spotlight!

Another highlight this week is Dawn Geddes’s look at social enterprise Invisible Cities, which you’ll find on page 26. The brainchild of Zakia Moulaoui, this project trains homeless people to become tour guides in the cities they know and love.

A city that’s close to Neil Mcallister’s heart is Norwich, and on page 8 he takes us on a tour of its many attractions – perfect armchair travel if you’re still staying close to home.

Finally, this is the first issue in several months to feature one of our popular Pan Macmillan book offers. Because of ongoing restrictions, the discount can only be used online and not in store. Turn to page 55 to find out more.
