Tips To Keep You On Track
If you have a basic level of fitness then you’re never too old to try jogging, so follow these beginner’s tips from keen runner Jessica Frey of Virgin Sport.
• Start with a really short distance – even 100m or one lap around the block (see the Couch to 5k weekly targets on www.nhs.uk)
• Buy good socks to avoid blisters
• Pump your arms and keep your shoulders relaxed – arms are important to keep rhythm and momentum
• Rest is important, so listen to your body and take a day off when you feel you need it – your body needs time to recover
• Distract yourself – podcasts and audio make the running time go faster
